Memory Lane for Letham 1962/63 and 50 Years Later 2012/13

The recent triumphs of Letham Amateurs prompted a look back to Saturday 22nd June 1963 when on the South Inch Letham won the prestigious Dewar Shield defeating Allanvale by five goals to four after trailing by four goals to one before a very large crowd. This was in the club’s second season in which they also were League Champions, winners of Lindsay Cup and defeated finalists in the Bissett & Stewart Cup. The team was managed by Tommy Petterson and during the season the following players were used: - goalkeepers-Murray & Barclay, defenders-McClelland, Lee, Crockart, Armit, Midfield- Drummond, Hebner, Pritchard, Watson. Forwards- McErlain, Marshall, Gardiner, McRorie, Muckersie, McDonald and Galloway. A policy that has continued by and large and at the moment fields 19 teams three of which are girls only. Letham in the season 2012/13 won Kinross Tournament, Gerry Barker Memorial Trophy, League Cup, Perthshire Cup, Ashleigh Cup, Perth & District Cup and runners up in League Championship in what has been an outstanding season.
