Letham Community Sports Club Notes for Friday 20 April 2012

Letham Amateurs (sponsored by Sportsters, 6-8, So. Methven Street) In a tight game The tangerines again accounted for local rivals Roselea by three goals to one on the South Inch to go into the next round of the Perth & District Cup. Tomorrow away to Burrelton Rovers in the semi-final of the Smith League Cup. Meet clubhouse at 12.30 p.m. Letham U19’s (sponsored by Taziker Industrial Ltd., Horwich) The team easily defeated Kirrie last Sunday by seven goals to one. No game this weekend. Letham U17 Tangerine (sponsored by Corinna Hotel) When the team took a two goals to one lead in the first half it looked as if a major shock was in the offing as their opponents Ferry had not lost a game since 2009. Alas they were unable to maintain their early form and Ferry ran out comfortable winners despite having a player sent off due to violent conduct. On Sunday away to Newport. Scott will advise travel arrangements. Letham U17 White (sponsored by A & S Properties, County Place) Due to a serious injury to their goalkeeper the team narrowly lost to Carnoustie last Sunday. Home to Monifieth on Sunday. Meet clubhouse at 12.45 p.m. Letham U15 Tangerine (sponsored by Sidey Glaziers Ltd, Feus Road) No game last weekend. On Sunday the team was due to travel across town to play Jeanfield Swifts in the semi-final of the Barry Stephen Memorial Cup. However the tangies have players doing their Duke of Edinburgh Awards so the game is postponed to a later date. Letham U15 White (sponsored by Murthly Sawmill, Kingswood, Murthly) The game at Auchterarder was postponed last week. On Sunday they are away to their club mates from the Sky Blues in the semi-final of the Barry Stephen Memorial Cup. Stewart will advise timings etc. Letham U15 Sky Blue (sponsored by Montana Restoration,) With no game last weekend the team have an attractive match this week when the Whites are the visitors in a cup semi-final. Games so far this season have been close and no doubt this Sunday’s encounter will be likewise. On Tuesday night the team defeated Coupar Angus by four goals to one to reach the final of the Colin Melvin Memorial Cup. Letham U13 Tangerine (sponsored by John Gillespie, Hairdresser, St.John Street) The Tangies gave up their unbeaten league record rather tamely on Sunday when Breadalbane Strathtay Blues ran out convincing winners. On Sunday they travel to North Muirton to play Jeanfield Swifts in a league match. Thomas will advise arrangements. Letham U13 White (sponsored by John B Tainsh, Convenience Store, Rannoch Road) The midweek practice game went well and the boy’s displayed with confidence which had been lacking in previous games. On Sunday a home league game against Stanley Socca. Meet clubhouse at 9.30 a.m. Letham Tangerine 2000 (sponsored by Glenalmond Bldg. & Maint. Ltd.,) Special coaching sessions over Easter have gone very well and has no doubt improved the team’s play. A further session takes place tomorrow morning at Letham Primary School. Sandy will advise arrangements. Letham White 2000 (sponsored by Cherrybank Garage) The team travel to Auchterarder on Sunday following the Easter break. Kevin will advise travel arrangements. Letham Tangerine 2001 (sponsored by New Today, Furniture Centre, Canal Street) Following on from their Easter break the team entertain Pitfour at Seven Acres on Sunday. Letham White 2002 (sponsored by RGW Play Area Maint. Ltd.,) Following a short break the team have a trip to Jeanfield Swifts Reds on Sunday. This game kicks off at 10.00a.m. Mike will advise arrangements. Letham Tangerine 2003 (sponsored by Flonix IT, 5 St John Street) With the excitement of the Falkirk tournament now in the past the team have a difficult task this Sunday when a very good side from Crieff are the visitors to Seven Acres. Cathy will advise timings. Letham Sky Blue 2002 (sponsored by Taylor’s Taxis, Leonard Street) The Spring programme recommences this Sunday and Crieff Juniors are the visiting team. Letham Girls U15 (sponsored by Maximan’s Computer Media, Aberfeldy) The girls are back in Edinburgh tomorrow against the renowned Hutchison Vale. Ian will advise travel arrangements. Letham Girls U13 (sponsored by IJPD Bldg.Management Services Perth) The team played some nice football last week at home to Jeanfield but were unable to turn their play into goals. Tomorrow they are in Fife to play Glenrothes Strollers. Letham Girls U11 (sponsored by R.A.S.C. R.C.T. Association) The game last week against scone was postponed. Tomorrow they play Jeanfield at Seven Acres. Letham Tot’s Soccer School (sponsored by China, China, St. Leonard’s Bridge) The sessions for boys and girls in primaries 1 and 2 resumes tomorrow Saturday 21st, April at Seven Acres from noon. Bring a drink, wear shin pads. Ask for Thomas. Letham Coaches (sponsored by McLeod Glaziers, Inveralmond Road) The club would like to hear from volunteers willing to give up some of their spare time and become a coach to one of our younger teams. The club has no shortage of youngsters wanting to play for Letham and desperately needs additional help to meet the demand.
