Smiths League Cup - 1/4 Final
Amateurs (5) v Alyth (1)
The Amateurs sailed into the semi-final of the League Cup when they defeated United by five goals to one. United won section 8 but are in the second division. Apart from a few sorties in the opening stages there was only going to be one winner. It was 3-nil at the interval going on six and how the referee never awarded a penalty early in the half was beyond all spectators comprehension who were watching. A defensive lapse allowed the visitors to score two minutes into the second half. Further goals in the 75th and 87th minutes completed the scoring but again the Tangerines were missing easy chances. On this form the team can have all the confidence of fearing no one but oh we must take our chances
