The opening exchanges were played in the Letham half as the Dundee side were quicker to the ball and had more urgency. As the half progressed then the Tangerines were much more in the ascendancy. The pitch however was churning up and near impossible to play a passing game. As half time approached Letham gained a penalty for hand ball. This was duly converted.
The second half with Letham shooting towards Balgowan Road allowed Letham to have a much bigger share of the game and the Dundee side were forced to chase long balls which the home defence handled with their usual aplomb. It was no surprise that three further goals were scored as Dee club were unable to maintain the pace . regrettably one of their players near the end got his marching orders. So not the prettiest way of playing football on a porridge pitch but effective.
