Under 16's Sky Blue (7) v Breadalbane Strathtay (2)

After a night of frost the pitch is fine and free of ice an hour and a half prior to kick off.
Its a bright sunny morning and we line up as above again with trialist Jamie in the team.
We are short of David still on the mend after his long term injury and Euan who is unavailable today.
Breadalbane are a big strong physical side who are right up for the game straight from kick off.
Its a real midfield struggle early on with Breadalbane seemingly hungrier and first to most balls.
They have a shot wide of the goal from their big speedy striker early on.
They have a break down the right, but Aidyn chases and clears to avert the danger.
We start to play better but its not until Kieron is taken out 30 yards out that he strikes his free kick just off the top of the crossbar.
This lifts us and Jamie shoots wide after 25 mins.
Then from a corner Elliot heads wide from 6 yards out after 27 mins.
Then we go 1 up after 32 mins when Stewart passes to Jamie down the left, ,he chases what seems a lost cause to the by line, crosses and Coco scores from 8 yards.1-0.
Then Coco is stopped inside the box after some frantic defending, from the resultant corner, Kieron hits just over the bar.
Then after 36 mins, Breadalbane level after a long thru ball finds their big striker ,clearly 2 or 3 yards offside, but he is allowed to go on and scores from distance for 1-1.

Sky Blues object en masse, but the ref says its a goal,so thats it!
Half time 1-1
We make a number of changes Artur for Calum, Scott for Hugh, Thomas for Callum, George for Mark.
Right from kick off, Jamie is sent clear and strikes a shot which is saved well by their keeper.
Just after this, Stewart passes to Coco, who is right on the edge of the 18 yard box, he crisply strikes the ball into the top corner for 2-1.
We are playing well now, but Breadalbane come close to levelling with a counter attack and their unmarked striker just misses with his header at Arturs right hand post.
It takes a while for us to score again, and we sub Drew for Coco and Mark for Stewart after 67mins.
Almost immediately Mark floats into the 18 yard box on the byline on the right, crosses in for Kieron to strike home for 3-1.
Kieron has lifted his level and is causing a lot of bother in the 18 yard box before he is bundled down for a penalty.
Thomas is to take, but he selflessly gives the ball to Connor who slots home comfortably for his first goal for the team and our 4th today. 4-1 after 71 mins.
Just after this Thomas crosses from the left hand goal line and Mark cooly scores for 5-1.
Just after this Breadalbane strike the base and the ball rebounds onto our goal line after a powerful free kick from 35 yards out.
Then Breadalbanes big defender, is advanced to a striker role now, hits a powerful shot high over Artur and in for 5-2.
Mark wins the ball just outside the 18 hard box, passes to Drew, who scores for 6-2
Then a nasty injury for Breadalbanes big defender, he chases and wins a ball at our byline, but his momentum carries the lad into the fencing and he goes off after injuring his shoulder, we hope he is alright.
A long high bouncing ball goes into the Breadalbane box, their keeper grabs, but can't hold, it breaks to ever alert Drew
who passes back to Jamie to slam home for 7-2 After 80 mins.
The game ends after around 5 mins injury time.
Its a big win and 3 points for the Sky Blues, certainly the score sounds far more than the difference between the 2 sides suggests, but sometimes football gives like that.
After the game, the Ref admits that he got it wrong with the offside decision for Breadalbanes first goal, but its a split second decision and refs can't get them all right.
Well done all and its good now to have a strong squad again where no one is certain of a start, with everyone fighting for a starting place.
Next week, its the Home league game v Luncarty.
