League Cup - Play Off
St Johns (1) v Amateurs (4)
Letham go into the knock out stages of the League Cup by defeating favourites St Johns in the play off game.
The scoring went 0-1, 0-2, 1-2. Half time. 1-3, 1-4. Referee injured and tge game was held up for 6 minutes and there was a fear the match would have to be abandoned but it restarted and bingo we had won.
The Letham defence were solid and stood up to the renowned Saints attack and in the second half totally dominated them. The Letham midfield were outstanding. They harried the opposition and were all ways in their faces thus forcing St Johns just to punt the ball down the park. The forwards as usual were lively and creative and caused all sorts of bother.
When it was suspected in the second half St Johns would rally the opposite was the case and the Tangerines dominated certainly the last 20 minutes or so. A real tonic for the team and should bolster their confidence for their North of Tay game this week at home to Dee Club.
